Earlier this week, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen accepted the Raiders’ head coaching. Allen’s departure means the Broncos will seek their seventh defensive coordinator in seven seasons – a rather annoying trend if you ask me.
But fear not Bronco fans, it appears John Elway and crew are eager to find a new coordinator quickly. The Duke himself backed this up this week on KDSP radio in Denver today when he said "We’re going to sit down and hopefully get that done rather quickly.”
How quick? well, how’s this: ESPN is reporting that ex-Jaguars coach, Jack Del Rio, will become Denver’s new DC! Del Rio, for those of you unaware, was John Fox‘s DC during the 2002 season in Carolina. He oversaw a defense that made a one-season improvement from 31st to 2nd. If he still has that kind of mojo, imagine what he could do with guys like Doom, Miller, Champ, and, hopefully, Dawkins?
