Potential Disaster in Camp: Moreno tears Hamstring; NFL sources say

Reports are coming out of Denver that second year back, Knowshon Moreno, may have torn his right hamstring during practice today.  Moreno suffered the injury after catching a screen pass.  As he made his cut, Knowshon crumpled in pain.  He was unable to make it off the field under his own power and had to be carted to the locker room.

To make matters worse, moments later backup running back Correll Buckhalter walked off the field with what’s being called an upper-back pull.

With 42 days before the Broncos first pre-season game, the biggest question for the Broncos off-season may no longer be if the o-line will be healthy enough to block for the running backs, but whether the Broncos will have any backs to take the field at all!

I can’t imagine a worse start to camp.  With the injuries to Buckhalter and Moreno, and the recent trade of running back J.J. Arrington,  the Broncos are left with running backs Toney Backer (rookie; North Carolina State; already had two knee surgeries), Lance Ball (2nd year, Maryland; the Broncos are his 4th team), Bruce Hall (2nd Year, Mississippi; second team no starts), and Kolby Smith (4th Year Louisville).  Consensus is that Ball and Hall are destined to be camp fodder, and Backer to the practice squad.  That leaves only Kolby Smith as starter material.  Expect the Broncos to make a move for a running back in the next few days if the worst is confirmed with Moreno.
