ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—The Denver Broncos have claimed linebacker Bruce Davis off waivers from New England.
The third-year pro spent most of last season on the Patriots’ practice squad after playing in five games as a rookie in 2008 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had made him a third-round draft selection out of UCLA.
Probably nothing more than camp fodder, but who knows? Coach McDaniels may be willing to pay Davis a million bucks a year to get him coffee–heck, it can’t be any worse than paying a million bucks a year for a long snapper (that’s $6,410.26 per snap).
In all seriousness though, competition anywhere on the defensive front seven is a good thing at this point. The front wore down last year. Improving depth and challenging players to play their best with a bit of competition is always a plus.
