Long time foe, about to become goal line ally?
As injuries continue to mount the Broncos appear to be on the verge of bringing in former Raider running back and Bronco tormentor, Justin Fargas, to shore up the ranks. Fargas, who passed his Bronco’s physical Tuesday night, is the sixth running back the Broncos have acquired this offseason to shore up running back depth. Last season, Fargas split time with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush for the Raiders rushing for 491 yards on 129 carries. Fargas had three touchdowns last season.
Lance Ball, Bruce Hall, Toney Baker, and LenDale White are all currently on the roster behind injured starters Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter. For one of them this will only be temporary, as the Broncos will need to cut a player to bring in Fargas. Personally, I suspect the player that will be cut will be White, for whom running back Kolby Smith was cut last week in order to make roster space. White showed little in his few appearance in camp, and combined with his injury and his awaiting four game suspension, I don’t see him fitting into Denver’s plans come September.
Fargas could be a good addition to the Broncos, as the team has struggled running the ball in goal line situations the past two seasons. His bruising running style could be just what the Doctor ordered. That’s assuming of course that Fargas can do what many of his soon to be Bronco teammates this offseason haven’t done and that is keep away from the Doctor and the Denver training staff himself.
